Aboot

I am a dude living on a council estate in Edinburgh with my wife and Ziggy Stardug the Jack Russell Terrorist. I have been a vegetarian for a long time and when I was 38 I started really getting into herbs for health and went to the Low Cost Herbal Clinic run by Grass Roots Remedies Co-op. I have since completed their 1st year of Wild Things : A Year Of Wild Food & Medicine and I regularly attend their CommuniTea sessions they run in Wester Hailes, mostly at Calder Garden.

After completing their course and a short course at Uni about Mental Health I had considered going back to school and doing some studying, but after some thought I have decided I actually learn better in my own time. That way I can concentrate and put as much time as I like on the things I want to learn about as the chances arise and not just what I need to know to pass a test or write an essay at the end of term. So this blog is really my notes and finished essay for an imaginary masters degree in Self Sustainability at the Univeristy of Life I suppose. Possibly just some of my wanders in the wilderness too.

This probably wont just be about foraging plants, I love rummaging through fly tipping sites for items that can still be used, in fact in the week since thinking about this blog I have found and forage 2 items that could well be useful items.

If you do decide to read please do bear in mind to double check the I’d on any plants I mention, I am not a qualified anything just a dude with a keen interest. I shall eventually make a page with links to resources, sometimes I will put links to better resources in my blog posts.

Peace & Love to you all
